Elevating consciousness through music since 1998

DJ Rashida is an internationally celebrated DJ, cultural tastemaker, creative director, and curator known for her signature fusion of hip-hop, soul, funk, dancehall, and house. Since getting her first turntables in 1998, Rashida Robinson has built a global reputation for deeply musical storytelling, bringing ancestral wisdom, feminine power, and a profound belief in the healing force of music to stages, festivals, private events, and cultural moments around the world.

In 2004, Rashida connected with Prince at the House of Blues in Los Angeles after playing what would become the first of many parties for The Artist. That meeting led to a decade-long creative collaboration, with Rashida touring globally as his opener, DJing private events, performing live for televised appearances, and helping curate the sound and energy around his world. Her work with Prince included major television platforms such as The Tonight Show and the BET Awards.

Rashida has continued to tour the globe and collaborate with beloved artists including Bruno Mars, Erykah Badu, Kelis, Cee-Lo Green, and Pharrell Williams and has performed at major international festivals including Lollapalooza, Super Sonic in Tokyo, and Good Vibrations in Sydney. She also served as the on-set DJ for MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew and as house DJ for The Arsenio Hall Show revival.

Rooted in both sound and visual culture, Rashida studied at the Atlanta College of Art, a foundation that continues to inform her work as a creative director and curator of immersive experiences. Beyond the turntables, she is a tastemaker shaping fashion, culture, and brands, styling herself in legendary music videos such as Prince’s “Black Sweat,” and more recently Bruno Mars “Finesse,” & “ Risk It All.” She is regularly tapped to soundtrack high-profile cultural moments for clients and institutions including the NBA, Netflix, CAA, the Oscars, and the GRAMMY Museum.

Her recent production work includes a remix of Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman” featuring Sheila E., further expanding her role as a forward-thinking collaborator and producer.

In addition to her celebrity, corporate, museum, and festival work, Rashida is dedicated to improving the human condition and using her platform to create opportunities for underserved youth, young women, and single mothers. She has raised funds for nonprofits serving single mothers and families, including Lift LA & Fund A Mom, and has led empowerment DJ clinics with organizations including The Fresh Air Fund, ECGY Youth Centre in Turks and Caicos, Locke High School, and SoLa Foundation in South Central Los Angeles.

Whether curating global soundscapes, producing boundary-pushing collaborations, mentoring the next generation, or setting the tone for culture’s most meaningful rooms, DJ Rashida continues to elevate music, community, and consciousness while shaping what comes next.

“Wayyy back when, DJ Rashida would bring a gang of us all together, and we would go to Prince’s house parties together. It was such a surreal time. These were artists who also created true tribe and community and, no matter on what scale, the impact was felt and still is.”
